So Much is Said When Nothing is Said At All

I absolutely cannot stress enough the importance of encouragement.

In a world of 7 billion people, there is no reason that any one person should feel like they are alone, like there is no alternative to accepting their own misery. There is no reason that any one person, whether they’re 10 years old or 100 years old, should fail to see their own worth.

We live in a world where we are consistently being told “you’re not good enough.” It’s a world where our absolute best is shot down by the synthetic images portrayed by celebritiesmagazine covers, and tv shows. It’s a world where kids are pushed into the swirling storm of inadequacy and hopelessness based on what they see, what they hear, and how they’re treated by the world around them. This world is a scary place… but it doesn’t have to be.

How do we change it? How do we work against it? How do we help?
Lift people up regardless of who they are, regardless of where they come from, regardless of how well you know them. Make sure they know that they are good enough and they are loved. Reassure them that no matter where they are in life right now, things will change and things will get better. This life is not a static situation; there is no person who goes a lifetime on the same page, of the same chapter, of the same book. Life keeps moving forward, even when you can’t tell that it is.

We as human beings are plagued by our own self-concern. We are so unbelievably focused on me, myself, and I that we fail to acknowledge him, her, they, and them. We fail to see the needs of people we pass by everyday. We fail to realize that while we may feel secure in who we are, there are others who find no value within themselves. There are those who are ignored, denied acceptance, and pushed deeper in their own shame by people who don’t even see what they’re doing.

Be the difference. Be the change. Say hi to people. Smile. Love them. Be the person they look forward to seeing in the morning. Be the reason they know today is worth it. Be the one who refuses to conform to the chaos of this world and set yourself apart.

Talk to people. Encourage people. Love people.

Period.
